SEO Is A Fallacy

Much has been written about SEO. What you need to do. How you need to do it. But I’m telling you now you don’t need SEO.
Well at least your readers don’t need SEO.
SEO is not for humans
The truth of the matter is that your readers do not give two hoots about SEO. SEO has no bearing on your readers.
- SEO does not cause users to read
- SEO does not keep readers coming back
- SEO does not add any value to the article
- SEO does not make the article better
- SEO does no cause readers to think
- SEO does not challenge readers
- SEO does not make you or I a better writer
You see, SEO is purely a technical thing. In fact it is the sole domain of Search engines.
Are you writing for the search engines or are you writing for human readers?
Quality content is better than SEO
Concentrate on quality content. Concentrate on your readers. There is no substitute for good fresh quality content.
You can SEO your web page, web site, blog all you want, but if your content is rubbish it won’t matter. No amount of SEO is going to magically create quality content.
I have written many blog articles without trying to SEO it to bits. In fact I never applied any SEO techniques at all. I just wrote naturally. Guess what, many of those articles ranked very high in the search engines.
Why is that? Well because good natural writing is the best form of SEO you can get. People look for quality rather than SEO.
SEO is fine tuning
I’m not saying that SEO does not matter. SEO has it’s place. But it is not first place, nor is it even second place.
SEO is all about fine tuning. The fine tuning has got nothing to do with your article but about how the search engines see your article or web page.
Just look at what SEO stands for, Search Engine Optimisation. That's right, you are not optimising your article. You are fine tuning it so you have better than average chance in the search engine results.
It’s like getting into your car and going to work. Your car is going to get you there. It is probably going to get you there on time as well, if you leave on time.
But fine tuning your car will cause it to run better, last longer. It might even turn a head or two on the freeway.
But the thing is, it’s still going to get you to work.
Conclusion
Is SEO a fallacy? Well yes, if you think it is going to improve your article or web page. Yes, if you think that it is somehow a magical formula to woo readers to your blog.
Is SEO a necessity? No, but it might improve your chances of being ranked slightly better on the search engine. But only if your content is of good quality.
So what do you think about SEO?
