Am I Good or Am I Bad?

Criticism

A very difficult question to ask because I never can tell what answers to expect? Never the less I am going to ask it. Am I good or am I bad?

More specifically it’s about my blog, my writing style site design etc.

Any good leader needs to often look to himself to see if he is improving. Self evaluation is critical. But often a very biased view result from that.

The hardest thing to accept is criticism from outside sources. Especially if that criticism is not what you are expecting. But I’m going to clench my teeth and accept constructive criticism.

Criticism

What is criticism. Well the first thing it is not, is it is not a mud slinging competition. It’s prime purpose should be constructive.

Criticism is the judgement of the merits and faults of the work or actions of an individual or group by another (the critic). – Wikipedia.

Remember giving constructive criticism does not mean that you need to be critical. Constructive criticism is not about what you like or dislike. It is more about what is good or bad when judged within a certain standard.

Before you give criticism you need to know a few things:

  • Goals – What goals do you have in mind? Where do you want to see this blog and me in particular go to? Understand the goals of the blog and website.
  • See the good and the bad – Too often it is easy to focus on the bad. Don’t, Talk as much what it is than what it is not.Explain the reasons for the bad, and how and why it should be changed.
  • Focus on the positive – Always give more positive suggestions than negative suggestions. I read once about a PNP sandwich. That is Positive Negative Positive. Where the negative is sandwiched between two positives.

What to criticise

Well I suppose I am looking for everything. But trying to focus on improving this blog. So I would appreciate feed back from you on how to do that.

  • About the site design
  • About the writing style
  • About the topics chosen
  • About the post frequency
  • About the engagement
  • What would you want to see more of
  • What would you want to see less of

Only thing I ask is for you to be gentle. So how about it? Here is you chance to have your say. A chance to be a part of improving this blog for the rest of the blogosphere.
