Avoid committing blog suicide

There are so many ways to build your blog. So many articles written on tips and tricks to make your blog successful. But there are also so many things to avoid. It is a lot easier to kill your blog than it is to build it.

Here are a few things to avoid.

Don’t post rubbish – A blog thrives on quality content. It will die from useless rubbish content.

Avoid trashy colour themes. Colour is so important now days. Use max of three colours. Make your blog look professional and not like a tramped out hooker.

Post often. Try holding your breath for an extended period of time. Fresh content is like air to a blog. Starve it from fresh content is like blog suicide.

Don’t copy content. Copying content is like taking someone else's prescribed medication. It might seem ok for a while. But it will soon bite you. Death might be a real possibility.

Add value. Content is not just about words. But how those words impact and affect people. How they can help and improve their lot. People come to your blog for answers. Don’t disappoint.

Less ads. too many ads will turn away users. Traffic will die down and your blog will suffer.

Don’t ignore your commentators. When people comment on your blog. Make an effort to reply. They made the effort to comment. Now I know that sometimes you can’t reply to every comment. But at least make an effort to reply to some.

Write about stuff you know. Don’t try and fool people. Don’t write on subjects you have no knowledge about.

Make sure your navigation is user friendly. No one likes to spend most of their time on your blog trying to figure out the navigation. Make it user friendly and intuitive. Simple is the key.

Proof read. We all make mistakes. Make the effort to proofread your blog. Find those typos, spelling mistakes and grammatical errors.

Don’t use black hat SEO. Things like keyword stuffing, invisible keywords are all what we call black hat tactics. The term should just put you off.

Remember you can win a weeks worth of free ad space just for commenting. The best comments during the week will get a weeks free advertising space. Check out: Win free advertising for your blog
