This is a guest post by Ben Lumley

We all have ways we can help each other. Some of us even make it our life's mission to help those around us in any way that we possibly can. It is my personal goal in life to help people in as many ways as I can. So how can I help a fellow blogger? Well for me there are a couple of answers to that question.

1. Help with their promotion.

I'm a massive believer that the megaphone method of marketing (ie getting others to market your product for you through recommendations) is a excellent way to build a brand. In my daily journey through the web I come across a lot of awesome content and the best way I can help out my fellow blogger is to shout about it from the rooftops. If you follow me on Twitter you'll know that I RT a lot of posts, this is my way of helping.

2. Comment on their posts.

Feedback is a great thing. When I read something that grabs my interest, I nearly always comment in order to give the blogger a bit of feedback. It might be and usually is a positive response sharing a bit of my own experience but sometimes I may disagree however I always make sure I take the time to give my feedback in positive and constructive way. I know what it's like to want people to comment on my posts so if I can help out a fellow blogger by adding my input then I'll gladly do that.

3. Feedback to make a difference.

If there's a reason for me to offer help and advice away from the comments of a post then I'll always try to do that. If there's a funky plugin that I know of that will help improve someone's site then I'll let them know. If there's a way I think they can improve what they are doing then I'll drop them a line and offer some friendly positive advice.

4. Offer a guest post.

Bloggers usually guest post as a way of promoting their work  which is completely cool and something I've done and will continue to do. Sometimes though I come across a fellow blogger who I think might benefit from a post by me or guest posting on my site. I'm not sitting here saying the the biggest blogger in the world but in the few months I've been going I've built up a really nice community who are always willing to support people. If someone can post on 6aliens.com and pick up some new readers and some new fans then I'm always excited to help them with that.

Don't be afraid to help. People like getting help!
