Twitter Announces New Feature - Lists

One thing I like about twitter is that with in the short period it has been around, the developers have continuously made updates and changes. Some are not big, but some do offer significant benefit..

TwitterTwitter has announced on its official blog that it'll be launching a new feature soon called "Lists".  This allows you to create lists and group Twitters users together into similar topics or themes. Like "Top South African Tittwer", "Top Tech Tweets", "My family", or "My Closest Friends".

Twitter says it created the feature "because of the frequent requests we received from people who were looking for a better way to organize information on Twitter".

The lists will originally be made public, but you will be make them private. Other Twitter users can then subscribe to your lists. This means lists have the potential to be an important new discovery mechanism for great tweets and accounts.

I think this will be great and will complement such collaboration tools as Twitter12. Twitter12 provides an online community for bloggers to form tribes of twelve members (called “Twitter12”) by niche and then help each other on Twitter by promoting each other’s latest blog posts. It’s also a place where bloggers can come together and exchange ideas to improve your blogs.

It's great that Twitter is doing this! It sucks that Twitter.com is blocked in China. However, one day I will leave this totalitarian state and be free to use Twitter.com once again! Thanks for mentioning Twitter12. It's slowly growing.

Gordie,

I believe Twitter12 has some great potential. I will advertise and promote it where I can. It's slow, but I believe it will take of soon enough.

Just take this as an encouragement to stick with it.
