Gmail Finally out of beta

image Gmail, probably one of the largest online mail and application products, has finally shed it’s beta designation. Gmail, alongside Yahoo mail and hotmail, is a online application service, not only supplying mail box space and mail addresses but all sorts of other application. GOOGLE'S GMAIL has lost its somewhat dubious distinction of being the longest running program on the market to retain a "beta" designation.

Google has been adding features to its Apps Suite, including Gmail, to make it more appealing to enterprise customers, such as service level agreements (SLAs) guaranteeing over 99.9 per cent uptime per month. After about five years, the longest  running beta, it is finally out of beta.

Unleashed on the April Fool's Day back in 2004, Gmail's beta status has been a subject of joke for some users. Along with Gmail, the Internet search and advertising leader also lifted the beta software tag from its Calendar, Docs and Talk applications. Beta is a thing of the past for all of Google Apps

We wish Gmail all the best, now that it has shed the beta tag. But we are all used to seeing the beta under the logo. Some might say that they cannot live with out it. What is Gmail without beta. Well the powers that be at Gmail have thought about this, and added a Gmail Labs feature which will allow you to view the plain old Gmail Beta logo instead of the newer one.

To enable it go to Settings –> Labs and enable the Back to Beta feature to view the old logo.

I use Gmail extensively, making use of its cool 7gig mailbox space. We link our domain to the Google Apps and enjoy a whole host of freebies. Why use space on our servers when Google is giving space way.

Do you use Gmail? Does your company use Gmail or any of the Google Apps product? Tell us what you think about Google Apps. Leave a comment in the comment box below.
