Microsoft is continuing its research and has come out with some interesting touch screen devices, first it was a coffee table, then the wall and now they are coming up with the Sphere. The latest from Microsoft is spherical mutli touch surface device which is still in concept stage. The Sphere is based on Microsoft Surface Technology.
Remember the movie Minority Report. Where the lead character, played by Tom Cruise, was able to move images, video, and data using his hands on a flat glass like surface. Well that technology might not be as far away as you thought. Check out the video below as bill gates demonstrates Microsoft Sphere Wall Technology. Cool hey!
The multitouch-sensitive display, a spherical version of the original Microsoft Surface table (see video below), is intended as a design exercise or “an exploration of ideas”, according to project leader Hrvoje Benko, and not planned for a commercial release.
Is this old Technology. Well Microsoft Surface Table was first demonstrated a few years back. But it is no where near perfect. The point is that we continue to see Sci-Fi technology being invented in our time. Isn’t it exciting.
Microsoft have brought the Touch Technology to Windows 7 along some of the very cool applications in the Microsoft Touch Pack for Windows 7
Microsoft Touch Technology also comes to the Zune. If you haven't had a chance to glimpse the Zune HD yet. The 3.3 inch OLED screen looks awesome. It also supports HD radio and HD video out, wireless and a web browser and will be coming out later this year.
