The Eye of God

Bette Midler  sings a song, entitled, “From a Distance”, in which are the lyrics, God is watching you, God is watching you, from a distance.  This song takes on an eerie truth when considered in light of the recent pictures taken from our galaxy. Take a look at the Helix nebular.

A new spectacular image has been taken of the Helix nebula – many consider, my self included,  the Helix nebula to be one of the most awesome objects in our universe.

Picture from skynews

The photo was taken at the European La Silla Observatory in Chile using a special camera attached to a telescope. The Helix is a sun-like star and is in its final explosion stage before it retires into a white dwarf.

According to the Hubble Telescope site, this particular picture if of the HELIX NEBULA, which is about 650 light years from earth. It is said to be the nearest planetary nebulae to earth. A planetary nebula is gas around what used to be a star much like our sun.

I am a Sci-Fi fan, as I suppose a lot of so-called computer geeks are. I love TV-Series and movies such as Starwars, StarGate, Startrek. etc. To see this picture, just gives me goose bumps over my whole body.

The picture is a composite of photos -- taken by NASA's Hubble Space Telescope and at the Kitt Peak National Observatory in Arizona. The end result though, when observed while listening to Bet Midler’s song, “From a Distance” surely makes you wonder.

No matter how big and fast our computers get. No matter how our technology evolves. No matter how intelligent we think we might be. The universe has a lot more to teach us. When we look at this, you got to say to yourself, wow, God is watching us from a distance.

The following clip is in Flash. Assuming you have flash enabled and can at least view files from youtube.
